Ecuador’s best-documented visitor point is Otavalo. One of the oldest continuously trading craft markets in the Americas, supplying woven textiles, knitwear and tagua work to buyers who come to the town itself. A visit here is worth arranging directly through a workshop, cooperative or the town’s craft association rather than turning up unannounced, since much of the work happens in small family units, not public showrooms.
